Jess makes a stop in a small dilapidated town in northern Texas called Dundee to turn in the dead body of a rapist and murderer. The town, which used to be a bustling and thriving place, is slowly heading downward. He meets some of the people there and even stays the night with Elmer, a poor man he takes a liking to.
He leaves Dundee to travel to Clearwater, where he meets Eruin Resch, the owner of a gold mine that is about to shut down. Resch hires Jess to help guard his last shipments of gold to the town of Crater to be put on the train and transferred to Missouri.
He discovers that Beecher Stillson, a well-known bank robber is hanging around the Dundee area and that some bad hombres are going there to meet up with him. Jess unknowingly kills three of Stillson’s men before they make it to the hideout where the rest of his gang are waiting.
Jess starts putting things together and the lead starts flying. Jess has to make sure the last three gold shipments make it to Crater safely. In the meantime, he starts investing in the town of Dundee to bring it back to the way it was years ago, hoping to convince Resch into investing in his old hometown as well. As the town comes back to life, it attracts some good people, along with some bad. Can Jess save the town of Dundee while making sure the gold shipments get safely to their destination all at the same time?

DUNDEE FortyFifth in a Series of Jess Williams Westerns A Jess Williams Western Book 45 edition by Robert J Thomas Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This series just keeps getting better. Jess Williams is some kind of special man. He helps a whole town revitalize. Everyone loves how he treats people and gives them a helping hand.
As always Mr. Thomas continues to write Jess Williams in great stories. I know Jess has not found another love interest after the woman he loved was murdered, because of his business as a "quote as a bounty hunter". But I think he is due for another love interest.
I have read all of Mr. Thomas's books with Jess as the main character, and I eagerly look forward to more stories.
Bounty hunter, Jess, decides to bring a dying town back to life by investing in everything, including new houses and businesses. He even gets his friend, Senator Thibadough, to invest in it among other things. All, the while, Jess continues his hunting. Jess has always been generous, but this books shows a new level of maturity and intelligence in Jess. I recommend this if you like western books, or even if you don'tšš
Thomas again take a departure from the norm for a western as he did in Dark Cloud with another imaginative story of the altruistic Williams coming to the aid of a failing town and investing in its rebirth and future. A very lighthearted story that still has some of the old western shoot"em ups but the main focus on the town of Dundee itself. Very defiantly an entertaining novel
As I mentioned quite a few stories back, I have become addicted to Mr. Thomas' series on Jess Williams. Now I'm worried about what I'm going to do after #50 gets read. As usual, this one has been GREAT! Thanks for so many wonderful hours of reading!!! Please continue to write more, Mr. Thomas!
I agree with other posters - if this wasn't the best of the first 44, it IS close. I loved the development of the characters - both the good guys and the bad guys. Jess' character is ever expanding and changing. As he grows into maturity, his actions have matured. He shares whenever he can. He helps people more. Before he didn't realize how his actions help others. He is surprised that he likes to help others. Very good book. Very good.
I have read every Jess Williams book written thus far, and enjoyed them all (thank you Unlimited for making it possible) I am telling you about this one because it was especially outstanding. If you enjoy Jess but have to select and sift through the titles rather than enjoy them all, I wanted you to be aware that this is probably one of the top five for me. There was a lot going on with a lot more characters than usual, Everything made sense, the characters and their development was superb and interesting. The crafting of the story was top notch, etc. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did. I am very glad I purchased it and plan to enjoy it several times.
